Early Literacy in Tequesta

Early Literacy in Tequesta

Early literacy is a concept that is still a little alien to us, so many parents take it that an education in early literacy in Tequesta means teaching their children how to read from a young age. However, early literacy goes beyond that: it consists in helping children develop skills that will enable them to become successful readers, like vocabulary, understanding and self-expression. Children who learn these abilities are prepared to read and write, so they will cope better with the demands of academic life. They are being set up for success.

At Life Focus Counseling there are three axes that compose our practice: counseling, or healing the past, coaching, or pressing on and moving ahead, and educational services, or lifelong learning. As part of this last axis, counselor Marleen Roy provides a program of early literacy in Tequesta at Life Focus for preschool-aged children. The program aims to prepare the children to read and write in school, by improving their vocabulary, pronunciation and language assimilation skills.
